Thanks for your question. It really depends on the situation. I have a few teenagers myself and personally I would not recommend a stungun for a 14 year old child.
You might consider buying your daughter a personal alarm to carry on her person and trigger if she finds herself in harms way. These are pretty effective to scare off an attacker, and also safe for the child.
However, if you're worried about her staying home alone, having to ride the buss, or walk home in an unsafe neighborhood, you might look into some stronger form of defense: I would recommend self defense classes or possibly a pepper spray.
