ONLY BAD PARENTS LOOSE THEIR KIDS!!!
This was a statement I uttered at the ripe age of 18, with
all the zeal and confidence that only belongs to the youth.

A few years down the road I had to eat those
words and trade it for tears of shame and utter failure. I
was now married and we had a healthy rambunctious three year
old boy. He was the love of our lives and we were determined to
give him the best education, raise him in the best way
possible, and never let anything happen to him.
We were taking a wonderful summer vacation when
the unthinkable happened: We were standing at a little ice
cream parlor, I was getting our ice cream, while my husband was
paying the cashier. When I turned around to give our son his
ice cream, I saw in absolute horror that he was gone. He was
just tugging at my dress a few seconds ago, complaining about
more sprinkles on his ice cream. My husband and I flew into
immediate panic, we started calling his name while running
around like crazy people. Minutes, that felt like
hourse, later a lady appeared with our son. She was an
older lady and till this very day I thank God for her, she saw
him running and caught him just before he could get to far out
of our vicinity. He pointed to us and I think she also
recognized us by our bewildered looks and behavior. She was
scolding me and I was crying tears of shame and relief, all
along holding on to my precious little boy whom I could have
lost forever.
Don’t fool yourself; it takes SECONDS, and it
is impossible for you to keep your eyes on them every second.
After this horrific experience we started looking into anything
that could keep our kids safe. Off course there was the kid
harnesses, but that always seemed so inhumane and almost
reducing children to animals. I do agree however that you would
rather use that, than loose a child.
Needless to say, when I saw the Child Guard that
let you know when your child wonders off, I was pretty
excited. What an amazing invention! I would like to shake the
person’s hand that thought of it. This is for sure a more
humane way to keep your child safe and give you as a parent
peace of mind.
Although I still try and keep my eyes on my
children every moment of every day, it is great to have an
aid, especially if you have more than one precious little
person to worry about.
